Where Are Germs Hiding in Your Classroom?
Germs lurk anywhere kids touch: desks, doorknobs, light switches, water fountain toggles - even on soap dispensers, pencil sharpeners, computer keyboards and toys.
Top Tips
Here are three things you can do right now to help reduce the spread of germs:
- Disinfect frequently touched surfaces regularly
Stock up on Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes and use them every day to disinfect hard , nonporous surfaces. Wipes are an easy, convenient way to incorporate cleaning into your daily routine.
Kids can touch up to 300 surfaces in just 30 minutes. To help reduce the spread of bacteria and other germs, disinfect the surfaces kids touch most frequently — such as desks, doorknobs, faucets and light switches.

Teach kids healthier habits, such as
Washing their hands the right way- frequently, throughout the day
- before and after they eat
- with warm, soapy water, for at least 20 seconds (about the time it takes to sing the "Happy Birthday" song twice)
Doing the elbow cough
Encourage kids to cough into their elbows, not their hands (where they're more likely to spread viruses through touch).
